BMB Green Team
Main Content
As part of the BMB Green Team initiative the BMB office staff has two programs to which you may contribute.
Plastic Bag Collections
The first, is collecting plastic groceries bags. The group, Mat Makers has devised a unique way to recycle these bags that will not only help
the environment but help people in need.
Mat Makers turn these
bags into woven mats that can serve as beds. The bags are cut and tied into "plyarn" and rolled into balls.
The balls are then crocheted into the sleeping mats.
Completed mats were sent to a those in need in Guatelama, an orphanage in Haiti and recently to a
mission in Tennessee.
Bring your recyclable plastic grocery bags to 107 Althouse Lab. Please drop them off with Joyce Greslick. They will be delivered to the "Mat Makers" group that spearheads the efforts to transform everyday grocery bags into colorful and useful items for those in need.
Aluminum Can Tabs
Aluminum soda can tabs are being collected to
support the Ronald McDonald House. It may seem like a small thing but they do add up! Tyrone Elementary School
collected 1,099.9 lbs last year.
When you have your picnics, parties, tailgates and
consume canned beverages, please
remember to remove the tabs and bring them to 107 Althouse.
Eileen Swales is collecting the tabs. They will be given to Tyrone
Elementary School which makes the final donation to the Ronald McDonald House.
Drop your tabs off at the recycle bin in the Althouse entry way (small silver box) or with Eileen Swales in 107 Althouse.
Thank you for your support of these BMB Green Team efforts!
