Lindsey Orchard:Lindsey Orchard

Lindsey Orchard joined the Llinás lab in 2010 after earning a Master’s degree from Iowa State University and she currently holds the position of Lab Manager. Since joining the lab, Lindsey has grown and matured as a scientist and has developed into a natural team leader. Using her expertise, she has trained numerous undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdoctoral fellows that have joined the lab.  Lindsey always strives for positive interactions with fellow lab members, maintaining a high level of scientific excellence in the research being conducted while also contributing to the overall morale of the lab.  In addition, Lindsey has directly contributed experimentally to numerous collaborative research projects with the broader malaria community.  In fact, she has contributed results to the largest number of publications of anyone in Llinás lab, with over 14 citations to date.

Beyond research, Lindsey strives to ensure that the Llinás lab meets, and in some cases exceeds, the organizational and safety standards set by the University.  This attention to detail and protocol has allowed the Llinás lab to operate virtually seamlessly for many years.  Lindsey has also given her time and organizational skills to the Green Team at the Huck Institute working toward decreasing the carbon footprint that a research institute of Penn State's size can have on the environment.

"Lindsey is a prime example of a committed, hard working and organized staff member that we can all be proud of.  Her contributions are manifold and reach far beyond just the confines of the lab", stated Dr. Manuel Llinás.
