Ryan CirzDr. Ryan Cirz

Dr. Ryan Cirz is an antibacterial drug discovery expert and has worked on Achaogen’s research and development programs since 2007. As Director of Biology at Achaogen, Dr. Cirz has overseen multiple early-stage discovery programs as well as translational work including the foundational studies demonstrating the utility of Plazomicin for the treatment of pneumonic Plague and Tularemia. Prior to joining Achaogen, he studied bacterial recombinational repair and mutagenesis and the impact it has on the evolution of antibiotic resistance at The Scripps Research Institute, where he earned his PhD in Infectious Disease, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology in 2007.

Previously, Ryan served as a database consultant with Integra Realty Resources. He earned his B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from The Pennsylvania State University in 2001 and currently resides in San Francisco with his wife Tanaya.
