Grullon-Perez is entering into her senior year at Penn State where she works in the Rolls lab under the direction of Dr. Melissa Rolls.  She began work in the Rolls Lab at the beginning of her sophomore year.  Although she had reached out to several labs expressing interest in getting involved in undergraduate research Dr. Rolls Lab was her first choice.  The research project Grullon-Perez has been working on for the past 2 years focuses on the study of dendrite regeneration in the model organism, Drosophila melanogaster.  Her research has led her to test genes that could potentially be involved in dendrite regeneration and one gene in particular, mthl3.  In the poster she presented at the Undergraduate Research Exhibition she explored the role of mthl3 plays in dendrite regeneration and dendrite development.
