Research Summary

I am studying the synthesis of new dyes to improve the light harvesting and electron transfer characteristics of water-splitting dye-sensitized solar cells. Our previous kinetic analysis has identified cross surface hole diffusion between dye molecules as one of the bottlenecks limiting the water-splitting efficiency. I am testing this hypothesis by covalently linking dye molecules, thereby enforcing a minimum distance for hole hopping.
