2011 Spring Break; Washington DC Trip

Members traveled to Washington, D.C. over Spring Break 2011, to do community service for So Others Might Eat (SOME) and were given a tour of the NIH Clinical Center at Bethesda, MD. While at NIH, they met with Dr. Patrick Murray, Chief of the Microbiology section. Dr. Murray was involved in the launch of the Human Microbiome Project.

April 9, 2011, they took part in Exploration Day, a hands-on forum for the general public to explore science.

During Fall 2010, members learned about Penn State Creamery cheese and yogurt making, and held a group discussion of an article about the 6 priorities listed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director.  They also explored Eberly College of Science Education Abroad and Cooperative Education opportunities. Some members got spooked at the Forensic Science Club Haunted House and the semester ended deliciously with the End of the Semester Pot Luck Social.

All students are welcome at the bi-weekly meetings held Tuesdays, 7:30 p.m. in 012 Life Sciences (1st meeting of the semester January 18, 2011). Refreshments always provided! COME JOIN THE FUN! Visit the Micro Club Home Page for more information.
