Graduates Serve as Standard Bearers at 2013 Spring Commencement

During the May 4, 2013 commencement, graduates from each department in the Eberly College of Science will be recognized individually. A single outstanding student is nominated by each department to carry the standard of their major in the ceremony. Three students are nominated by the BMB department as it awards degrees in three majors.

The BMB department is honored to have the following students represent each major:

Portrait of Emily DongEmily Dong will carry the standard for the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major and be escorted by Dr. Howard Salis. Emily has accepted a position with Genetech, South San Francisco, California, as an Associate Engineer in the Process Development Rotational Program.

Portrait of Adam ClemensAdam Clemens has the honor of carrying the banner for the Biotechnology major. Dr. Siela Maximova will escort Adam. After graduation, Adam plans to find a position with a biotech company involved in cancer research or drug development. He also plans to attend graduate school to pursue a Ph.D. in a related field.

Portrait of Timothy Wang

Timothy Wang has the honor of carrying the standard for the Microbiology major. He has chosen to be escorted by Dr. Carl Sillman. Timothy has been accepted into the Masters degree program in Public Health at Brown University.
