Penn State Green Teams are faculty and staff volunteers working together to take specific actions to help their organizations operate in a more efficient, innovative, and healthy way.

The BMB Department has joined the Green Paws Program in order to help make every day operations more sustainable. One way you can participate, is by by recycling old batteries! Read on to find out where you can drop of your used batteries or go to Penn State's Center for Sustainability to find other ways to be green.

Battery Recycling

Battery recycling imageWhat do you do with old batteries? All batteries used in appliance and electronic gadgets can be recycled at Penn State.

  • Cover terminals with plastic tape or place battery in a plastic bag to prevent shorting.
  • A battery bucket is located in the entry way of Althouse Lab, on top of the garbage/recycling  cans.

 

Special Recycling Requests

Close the loop on waste!  Please use the 'Special Recycling Request Form' on the MOBIUS, Penn State Waste Management website to a pickup for FULL battery buckets, unique recycling needs, light-bulbs, SecureID tokens, or to request a delivery of a battery bucket, desk side cardboard tray for collecting office paper to recycle, desk-side compost buckets, waxed compost bag/liners.
