BMB Department Advising System

Advising Session

The advising system in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is designed to promote consistency and greater accessibility.  Students who intend or have entered the BMB, BIOTC, or MICRB majors will be assigned to an academic adviser.   Undergraduates are assigned to their adviser for the duration of their academic program.   The academic adviser provides assistance with the scheduling of courses, explanations of University and Department policies and procedures, and promotion of undergraduate experiences available to you as a Penn State student.  We feel it is important for students to meet with their adviser regarding both academic and professional goals.

The Science Advising center is a valuable resource for students interested in health professions, seeking information about education abroad opportunities, and finding out about science internship and coops.  WE ARE your academic advisers and we look forward to meeting you and being a part of your success here at Penn State!

Walk-ins & Scheduled Appointments:

  • Scheduled appointments with Jenn Keefer can be made by calling #814-863-5487 or online via Starfish if Jenn is your assigned adviser.  Regular weekly walk-in hours will be held on Tuesdays from 9 AM to 11:00 AM.

  • Please check-in for all appointments in the 2nd floor Science Advising Center reception area.

  • Walk-in appointments are brief 15 minute appointments intended to help students with scheduling questions and drop/add issues.  A longer scheduled appointment should be made for course planning, letter requests, change-of-major, and other specific issues.

  • The Late Drop deadline is Friday, November 10 at 11:59 PM.
