2016-April 29 Mia Sievers, a BMB major in the Ades lab, has been selected to be a DAAD-RISE Germany scholar for this summer. DAAD promotes international academic relations and cooperation by offering mobility programs primarily for students. The RISE (Research Internships in Science and Engineering) program is a summer program that places undergraduates from the US, Canada, and UK in top research institutions in Germany. Mia will be going to the University of Regensburg to do research on RNA polymerase in the lab of Michael Pilsl.

RISE offers unique opportunities for bachelor degree students to work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for a period of two to three months during the summer. RISE interns are matched with doctoral students whom they assist and who serve as their mentors. All scholarship holders receive stipends from the DAAD to help cover living expenses, while partner universities & research institutes provide housing assistance. Mia was one of 300 selected scholarship holders chosen out of 1,693 applications. She is very excited about this opportunity!

Congratulations, Mia!
