Physics Substitutions within BMB

Main Content

The substitution of PHYS 211: General Physics Mechanics for PHYS 250: Introductory Physics I will no longer be an allowable substitution in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department.

We will grandfather in students that have entered their respective major in our department on or prior to December 2012.  After that, if a student changes his or her options within the department or has changed their major to a major offered in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology the following substitutions for Physics will be allowed:

  • PHYS 211: General Physics Mechanics and PHYS 213: General Physics Fluids & Thermal Physics for PHYS 250: Introductory Physics I

or

  • PHYS 211: General Physics Mechanics,  PHYS 212: General Physics Electricity & Magnetism, PHYS 213: General Physics Fluids & Thermal Physics for PHYS 250: Introductory Physics I and PHYS 251: Introductory Physics II.
This will ensure that students take the required thermodynamis content not included in PHYS 251

: Introductory Physics II.
